Mr. Lucas Bravo de Laguna, Minister of Sport of Cabildo, and Mr. Pablo Barbero, capital city’s Councillor for Tourism, sealed a partnership agreement on September 30th, 2014.
Inter-island council of Canary Islands (Cabildo), through its Insular Sport Institute, is promoting DISA Gran Canaria Marathon to place it at the top of the winter international marathon’s calendar.
Therefore, from last year, Cabildo and City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria work together to promote the marathon across the planet.
Mr. Bravo de Laguna considers “fundamental a good collaboration and fluent communication between Cabildo and the City Council of the capital city since this municipality will be the main beneficiary of the event and its national and international promotion. We are glad both institutions are throwing themselves into the marathon”.
DISA Foundation promotes this fundraising initiative to help people with Parkinson and Alzheimer.
The 12 Solidarity Ambassadors of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon 2015 already have their money boxes and they all are ready to start with this charity project. An initiative of the DISA Foundation and Cabildo de Gran Canaria to help people affected by two of the most common diseases currently living in society: Alzheimer and Parkinson.
Mr. Lucas Bravo de Laguna, Minister of Sports of Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and Raquel Montes, Manager of the DISA Foundation, presented the Solidarity Ambassadors Project of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon that, under the slogan 'Run With Me', has gathered 12 celebrities from different areas of society for this cause of solidarity with the associations Alzheimer Canarias and Parkinson Gran Canaria.
The deadline to deliver the photographs to this contest in the Office of the Gran Canaria Marathon is December 15.
The Instituto Insular de Deportes (Insular Institute of Sports), through the office of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon launches the I Marathon Photography Contest “Five years of Gran Canaria Marathon', which seeks to reward the best individual photo or best photo series showing the culture of effort, the relationship between athlete and citizen or spirit of citizenship.
Candidates must hand over their work printed in A4 at the Office of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon before December 15 at 14:00. See contest guidelines in the section ‘Expodeporte’ on www.grancanariamaraton.com.
The amateur photographers can win the price of 200€ through a single photograph, each person can submit up to 3 photos, or a series of photographs with a maximum of 3 images.
Hyundai Canarias cars will serve as a clock-car to show elite runners the right route and the time spent in the distance.
DISA Gran Canaria Marathon is being promoted in many places of the world; this August it has been present at the Helsinki City Marathon.
An agreement has been signed this week between DISA Gran Canaria Marathon 2015 and Hyundai Canarias, which will be the official car of the marathon, supporting by second consecutive year this event and its commitment to the sport on the island. Mr. Lucas Bravo de Laguna, Minister of Sports of Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and Idaira Santana, Marketing Assistant at Hyundai Canarias attended to the signing ceremony.
“We are glad that Hyundai Canarias becomes by second consecutive year the official car of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon. It is very important and essential to add this kind of private support because this event is growing to offer the best services to the runners. For this reason, I would like to thank Hyundai Canarias for its support that I am sure will be worthwhile”, said Mr. Lucas Bravo de Laguna.
Gran Canaria Expodeporte will be held from 22 to 24 January 2015 in the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus and more than 20,000 visitors are expected.
Cabildo de Gran Canaria is organizing the Gran Canaria Expodeporte with the purpose of make it the greater fair of sports of the island. This Expo has come from the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon, the most important sport event and that more participants receive in the Canary Islands.
