The new start and finish line will be located at the Auditorium Alfredo Kraus area, where the Gran Canaria Expodeporte, the Charity Race and the Kids Race will also be held.
The new location of the start and finish line, the omission of the Port area, the increase of meters at the oldtown, Vegueta, and the omission of tight and two-way streets, are the main important changes of the new course.

The agreement to continue being the main sponsor of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon was signed on 26th June, after the meeting between Lucas Bravo de Laguna, Minister of Sports of Gran Canaria, and Aristides Bonilla, Marketing Director of DISA.

José Carlos Hernandez (Canary Islands) and Yvonne Van Vlerken (The Netherlands) triumph in the Half Marathon. Tore Dybdahl (Norway) and Beatriz Esteban Miller (Spain) prevailed in the 10km race. The 2014 DISA Gran Canaria Marathon lived its final party on Sunday, January 26, with the celebration of the three races Marathon, Half Marathon and 10 km through the streets of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria where the sun shone and filled the public to encourage more than 6,000 runners who started the race at Venegas St. in the capital.
The godfather of DISA Gran Canaria Marathon 2014, Haile Gebrselassie, has announced his arrival in Gran Canaria and he will be presented this Friday at 17:00 at the Runners' Fair. Thursday the Runners' Fair, the Run, Food & Fun and the ICOT Sport Conferences were inaugurated. The Ethiopian athlete Haile Gebrselassie, Godfather of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon 2014, was the big surprise of the day. His arrival to the island has turned the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in a great festival of sport.
Gebrselassie, Prince of Asturias Award for Sports and Unicef Ambassador, landed in Gran Canaria at 3 pm on Thursday, a day ahead of schedule. The Ethiopian athlete was welcomed at the airport by Lucas Bravo de Laguna, Minister for Sport of the Council of Gran Canaria, Raquel Montes, manager of the DISA Foundation, and main sponsor of the race.
