Last July, as a new commitment of the Centro Insular de Deportes in order to improve the services of this great sportive event, the new website of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon was put in operation (www.grancanariamaraton.com) offering a new portal design and some innovative sections.
"The results in terms of visits and traffic of the new website are still very good. Opinions coming from users are quite positive. The new design, improved functionality and the new sections are being highly valued by these users. Although it is early to take stock, it seems that these changes are all positive”, said Mr. Lucas Bravo de Laguna.
The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria added that “the starting idea was that the runners and the general public could find on the website all the information regarding the event and also organized by sections as for instance the “Technical Area”, where we can see information and useful experiences from runners in order to encourage people to run next 25 January.
Mid-August, the website received more than 20000 visits, very important news keeping in mind that there are still 5 months ahead before the celebration of the event.
The “Technical Area”, where we can find the experiences of winners from past editions or veteran runners is having a great success being highly valued by the users.
Moreover, this section will collect advices and articles written by experts in training and physiotherapy, bringing more quality to the website.
Through the web, runners can register for the three main races, the race for enterprises or race for high school, besides beings able to sign up to volunteer or find the foundations of the new medal design competition.

In addition, information regarding the Expo is already available for the enterprises wishing to participate in or for those interested in the Sportive Conference.
The site is currently translated into English, soon it will be in German and Italian, and those foreign runners interested in coming to Gran Canaria to participate will have all the necessary tourist information, transport, accommodation or the tour operators to travel to the island on January.
