The organization of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon has thrown itself into this edition since the last runner crossed the finish line on 2014.

Moreover, the Instituto Insular de Deportes (Insular Sports Institute) has reinforced the technical aspect of the race, thinking mainly in the runners and trying to help them to prepare better with full guarantee their participation in any of the distances to be run on January 2015.
Due to this, within the “Technical Area” of the website www.grancanariamaraton.com has been included the section “Technique and experiences” where runners who know well our Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10Km tell their experience or give advices on how to prepare the race: training and resting periods, recovery, supplementation, nutrition and much more.
Among the runners sharing their experience (already available on the website) there is the Irish Eoin Flynn, one of the best athletes in the Canary Islands so far and winner of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon 2014; Aroa Merino, athlete from Lanzarote double winner of this Marathon (2012 and 2013), also two podium positions in her first participations (2010 and 2011); also other popular and experienced runners in long distances as Losi del Moral and Cristian González.
Mr. Lucas Bravo de Laguna, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, explained that “the technical committee of the event has considered of grand value the contribution of these experiences devoted to the runners. We have invited athletes who have participated and been protagonists in our races and also popular runners who may be helpful to those starting in this field of running”
"Additionally, we will upload to the website some expert advices on fitness and training, as well as physiotherapists. Runners should be the main objective of our work and I think these articles with the experience and advice of various specialists give to the event a plus of quality we didn’t have so far”, said the Minister of Sports.
The staff of the Instituto Insular de Deportes has been working on all these new aspects of the DISA Gran Canaria Marathon in order to offer better quality services to the runners and to ensure a great success in the race for the Gran Canaria people and all its visitors.
